A Note from Pastor Jim

The arrival of the fall season signals that 2024 is just around the corner. With it comes so many exciting possibilities! New families are attending worship, community dinners, youth group, etc. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church. More people are also coming back to church and others are participating in new ways!

Our food pantry and operation backpack programs also continue to provide much-needed food to families each week. The Sanctuary chancel has been refreshed and the west entrance will soon have new ADA accessible automatic doors and sidewalks thanks to grants and special gifts.

Your 2024 Discipleship Plan

A new year is also an opportunity to grow in our faith. The below online form will guide you in creating a personal Discipleship Plan for 2024 using the five spiritual practices of prayers, presence, financial gifts, service, and witness.

Cornerstone UMC asks for your generosity to improve our financial health next year. Providing an estimate of your 2024 financial giving now will allow the creation of a realistic church budget in preparation for the new year.

If you have questions or need help, please don’t hesitate to email info@csofallon.org or call 636-379-5334.

Peace,

Rev. Jim Peich
Lead Pastor - Cornerstone UMC

P.S. - We encourage everyone to turn in their 2024 Discipleship Plans on or before Sunday, Oct. 29th so we can announce the results at the Nov. 4 church potluck.

My Prayers (2024 Goals)

Prayer Strengthens Our Connection with God

Prayer helps us stay connected with God and aligns our heart and mind with the will of God. If you want to deepen your faith, then increase the time you spend in prayer. There’s simply no substitute for it!

Prayer is any way you communicate with God. It can take many forms. Prayer can be thought, spoken, sung, written, drawn, etc.  There is no right or wrong way to pray and God is always available to talk!

My Presence (2024 Goals)

God Designed us to be in Community

Disciples of Jesus Christ prioritize coming together regularly to worship, learn, connect, and serve. We gather to offer God our praise, prayers, singing, confession, and gifts.

Together, we also seek to discern God’s desires for our lives through preaching, teaching, study, and mutual conversation. Questions are encouraged and everyone is welcome!

My Financial Gifts (2024 Estimate)

Our Financial Gifts to God Make an Impact
Our collective financial giving also ensures Cornerstone UMC is able to engage in community outreach to local schools, senior communities, and other groups. It also provides the funds to pay our pastor and staff.

Like most of us, Cornerstone UMC has ongoing financial obligations. These include utilities, insurance, supplies, equipment, maintenance, repairs, mortgage payments, grounds, and more.

It is through our financial gifts that the church is able to have physical spaces (building and grounds) for worship, choirs, community dinners, children and youth programs, funerals, weddings, events, groups, Bible studies, operation backpack, the food pantry, meetings, and more!

I will grow my financial discipleship using these methods:
Church Operations (General Fund)

Building Debt (Building Fund)
In addition to church operations, Cornerstone UMC has a $1.3 million mortgage. The interest rate we pay is adjustable and is set to increase again in 2024.

NOTE: Special gifts to reduce building debt should be above and beyond your regular offering to church operations (General Fund). It is important that we first meet our day-to-day expenses and obligations.

My Service (2024 Goals)

We are the Hands and Feet of Jesus

The Bible teaches that faith without action is of little use. As recipients of God’s unconditional love and grace, we have a responsibility to help others, especially those who are unable to help themselves. When we volunteer our time to serve others, we follow the example of Jesus.

My Witness (2024 Goals)

We are Called to Show Love and Grace

The way we live says a lot about what’s important to us. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are called to make love and grace the hallmark of our lives. When we do this, the people we encounter can’t help but notice.

It Starts with Our Relationships

People don’t care what we know until they know that we care. Our witness as disciples of Jesus begins with showing others that we truly care about them. Only when we develop such relationships, will others be curious about why we behave and believe the way we do.
